Ruth le Cheminant

Note from Seeger Gallery: Ruth is essentially a colourist, she absorbes the geographical and physical colours around her; interpretating them into a gridwork of brushstrokes, shapes and colour planes.

Ruth’s work is interesting; it has a sense of perspective and dimension, and yet she also pays homage to the surface of the canvas with a textural and painterly effect. This, combined with her line-work; creates a subtle tension.

Like the artist Kandinsky, Ruth is inspired by her music – and it is this element of inspiration, which lends her work an expressionistic feel. Her works are walk-in art – they invite the viewer “in” – to participate in a personal journey as you move from one plane through to another. Ruth has mastered the layering and paint-out techniques which result in a complex and well-balanced composition.
